The Fun In Me

This past week, I have felt like I was 19 or 20 again. My friends make me feel fun again :) I got to spend the last couple of days with them and I have laughed more this week than I have in about 3 months. One of my best friends, Amber has been back in town from California. Although she has only been gone since October, it felt like much longer! So of course I've been spending as much free time as possible with her :) On Monday, I went to my good friend Mallory's parents house to meet her sister's new baby. Amy's son is so cute! His name is Landon and he's just a few weeks younger than my cousin Henry. Laura came over too and then we headed over to Amber's because she had just gotten done with her family's Christmas party.

Amber's step-brother Randy was in town from New Hampshire and her step-sister Liz is in town from MSU so some of Liz's friends and her fiance came over, too. There were about 20 of us hanging out in the living room playing a dance game on Kinect and then we played a mean game of Pictionary. Our team consisted of my friends Erin, Amber, Mandy, Jenny, and myself. Another team was Liz and her fiance and friends, and the last team was Randy, Dean (Amber's brother), Allie (Erin's twin), Lauren (Erin's neice/Amber's cousin) and a couple more of Liz's friends. Mallory was the time keeper because she doesn't like playing Pictionary. Our team won, and then went back around the board and passed the other two teams again!

That was a very fun night. I spent the night at Amber's just like old times and then the next afternoon my Grandparents picked me up and took me to Sagebrush for lunch with my Aunt Steph. After dropping me off at my car at Mallory's, I dropped my Sagebrush leftovers off to Laura who was still at work. Then I went home for a few hours and my friend Sean, who also lives in California now, came over and we met up with everyone at Sweetwater bar in Waterford. We started with one table with me, Laura, and Sean...but by the middle of the night we had added 6 more tables! We had the whole bar basically to ourselves, and I loved it!

Wednesday night, we all went to Luna in Royal Oak. Luna is my favorite club because it's a small place with awesome alternative music. It's been voted best club 5 years in a row in the Detroit metro area. We reserved a booth which was good because by the end of the night I had to sit down a few times! There were so many of us, I don't think we've ever gone with such a big group before! It was myself, Mallory, Angelica, Amber, Jess, Tracy, Mandy, Rei and her bf Jonah, Liz, Randy, Dean, Laura, Christina, Courtney, Joe, and Sean. We were dancing all night! Sean, Jess and I stopped at McDonalds and waited FOREVER for 2 sandwiches. We got to Amber's at 3:30am and spent the night at Amber's again, and me and Dean stayed up til 5 watching "Austin Powers: Goldmember".

The next morning, Randy made strawberry chocolate chip pancakes and we hung out until the family left to go ice skating and drop Randy off at the airport. I went to Sarah Schuch's apartment that evening for pizza and movie night :) We watched "The Art of Getting By" and hung out with Sarah's brother Ricky's friends while they waited for him to arrive from the Detroit airport because he was in Miami visiting their mom for Christmas and they were picking him up to travel back to Tawas.

Today was just a laid back day and I'm making some wreaths out of Christmas bulbs and also spray painting some wine bottles white and covering them in epsom salt to make them look like there's snow on them.

Relaxation at last

I'm done with my finals, and moved all of my things out of my room in my apartment for the sub-leaser. My room at home now is trashed and I have been in Bloomfield Hills/Oak Park for the last 5 days because I have been babysitting and spending time with my Aunts. I got to see my two cousins, Ben and Will and make cookies with My Aunt Stephanie. My Aunt Sally and I got some delicious fro yo from Bloomberry. I love that place, I always get tahitian vanilla and expresso with lots of fresh fruit. I still need to unpack my stuff and wrap some presents, but other than that, I can basically do whatever I want!

I have some friends in town this week that live in California and Las Vegas that I need to see! Hopefully I'll go to dinner tomorrow night with Sean and see Joey before he leaves on the 29th. My best friend Jessica is having a New Year's Eve party, so I will be going to that since it's close to my house and I won't be out at the bar or anything with all the crazy drunk drivers.

I got my final grades for my classes yesterday. Out of the 5 classes I took this semester, 3 were 4.0, one 3.5 and my computer class was an epic fail of a 2.5 but at least I passed.

I can't wait for Christmas and I'm kind of glad there's no snow. It's fun the first week, but after that I'm sick of it! I'm excited for all the food we're going to have. We're doing small plates this year for Christmas, so there will be a lot of variety.

Keeping My Eye on the Prize

So, finals week is approaching fast, and everyone around me is going a bit insane. I finished my Service Management class on Tuesday, and got a 4.0, and also finished my HB 201 class earlier in the semester with a 4.0. Now all that's left is HB 237 (Lodging mgmt), CSE 101 (A horrid computer class) and my wine course (HB 409). Two of the exams are Monday and one is Wednesday. I just have to get through this and then I have nothing but relaxation and Disney to look forward to! Me and my friends left Shaw Hall around 2am and it was still packed. On Monday at midnight, there is a tradition at MSU to scream out the window as loud as you can to get out the frustration of finals. Here's a link to a clip of what it's like:here

Met with Brian, the sub-leaser for my apt while I'm gone. He seems really nice and is doing an internship for optometry. Although he's a hard core Michigan fan but oh well ;)

Oh yeah, the MSU campus reps gave us a send off party on Monday and although I only got to stay for about a half hour because I had class at 6 and the party started at 5, I had a great time playing games, eating pizza, and just hanging out with everyone.

Can't wait to get out of here!

This is what I woke up to this morning...my cupcake antenna topper is now an ice cream cone. Thankfully my roommate Josh excavated my windshield wipers out. I wished I had gotten up a little earlier because I ended up just walking to physical therapy because I wouldn't have made it in time if I had taken the time to take all the snow off my car. Physical therapy went well and I can finally see my ankle! My scar is healing nicely, too. The girls I'm rooming with want to get passes to Universal Studios, so I have to make sure that I can walk at a nice pace by January so I can keep up with them!

Progress

Last night was the meeting for all of the students at Michigan State who got accepted into the program :) It was extremely informational and made me even more excited if possible for my program to begin. We talked about everything from what we should bring to what there is to do in our spare time while we're down there. The campus reps also told stories from when they were in the program.

I got a sub-leaser for my apartment while I'm down in Florida. His name is Brian and he is doing an internship at Michigan State for the same amount of time I'll be gone. It worked out perfectly.

On another note, I just got into the series Dexter, and am on the second season already. The East Lansing Public Library has everything! Also, this semester is really winding down. I have my Service Management final next Tuesday, my computer final tomorrow, and the hotel and lodging mgmt test is next Monday. Where did the time go!? Then I can go home, relax for a month and then be on my way!

Things Are Coming Together!

I posted my survey for potential roommates to look at today. Within about 10 minutes, a girl named Samantha said I sounded awesome and that I should consider living with her and 4 other girls that also want to live at Chatham square or Patterson. She sent me all of their surveys and after checking them out, I decided to accept their invitation :)

These are my new roommates!

Samantha from Maryland- Concierge
Nicole from Wisconsin- FSFB (Full service food & beverage)
Linnette from Miami- Merchandise
Sofia from Miami- Attractions
Sarah from Chicago- QSFB (Quick service food & beverage)

I'm going to be roommates with Sarah. I'm so excited to know who I will be living with and have that all planned out and actually get to know the girls instead of just standing in line on Jan.23rd and hoping for the best. We are already making a list of things to bring so we don't bring more than we need of certain items. The girls are all 21 so I'm the oldest, but they seem really awesome so I'm sure I'll get along with them just fine ;)

Someone in the Disney College Program Spring 2012 facebook group posted a picture of her recent purchase of Disneystrology, which has a character that corresponds to your birthday. It says "What Your Birthday Character Says About You". I asked her what my birthday character was and she said mine is Timon, which says I'm unconventional, humorous, and carefree. Yep, sounds about right ;) I actually have this Timon sculpture that I got as a present from my family.

It's amazing how fast everything is moving along, but I'm glad :) 63 more days!

Preparing, planning, and packing

I've made a list of things I need to pack on my computer. I am probably doing it way too far in advance, but I have such a bad memory, that I am giving myself some leeway to remember things later and add them to the list. Luckily, the apartment is pretty much furnished, so there isn't too much I need to bring. I am hoping I can find a roommate on the Disney CP facebook website so we can plan what to bring and we don't both bring items and end up having too many of the same things.

I know we need to bring:
-a toaster
-a blender
-coffeemaker
-TV/DVD player
-and obviously food and personal items

I'm hoping the bed isn't too uncomfortable, but I'm bringing a memory foam pad just in case. Also, I am driving down there so I know I need to have my proof of insurance with my name on it so they know I'm a legitimate driver. My iPod is going to be put to GOOD use on this trip. :)

On another note, my mom and aunt decided they wanted to throw me a going-away party, so I invited all of my friends today. It's going to be January 7th. There is going to be Disney Trivia, a game to guess which restaurant I'll be working at, how many people I will end up living with, which apartment complex I will end up living in, etc. It'll be a nice little get together with my friends and family before I am cut off from them for 5 months!

That's all for now. Michigan State is having a Disney meeting for all of the students who got accepted for the Spring semester on the 28th. I can't wait to meet all my fellow CP's!

Accepted!!!

So...I've been accepted to participate in the Disney College Program in the Spring of 2012. I've been wanting to do this for as long as I can remember.  The countdown has begun!

My interview was October 19th, and immedietly after, I checked my dashboard on the disneycollegeprogram.com website about 24 times a day to see if  had been accepted or not. I was told it could take up to two weeks to be informed, and let me tell you, those hours DRAG on. I found out right after my Service Mgmt class on the 25th. I was so glad I found out only 6 days later. I was hesitant to open the e-mail, wondering what it would say, but luckily in the headliner it said "Congratulations"!

Just so you know, if you're accepted, this is all you will receive in the mail. The purple folder doesn't come anymore :( But I was told by my college rep that you will get an e-mail with all of the info that was originally in that folder.
